A semi-circular walk. The pictures go around clockwise, over the course of an evening...

The centre of town is pretty, along the Oudegracht which was the town's reason for existence. Once locks controlled the level, houses' basements were opened to the wharves, creating space just perfect for many restaurants a few centuries later...

But the university (at least most of it) is out of town in an office park district called De Uithof.

Sometimes there are four roads, for people, bikes, busses, and cars. It's all very confusing.

(a short flight across Germany away)

We didn't get to do the harbour tour by kayak, but we did walk around a lot.

The round tower, part of a combined observatory, library, and church. (Tycho Brahe died before it was built, so I'm not too sure what the connection was...)

That's why they made it round, I guess.

A new garden in front of the royal palace.

Outside, and then inside, the earth-walled fort.

And of course, the Little Mermaid. (There was a cruise ship in town, perhaps there always is.)
Then I got on one, two more planes, and a train or two, and that was the end of the trip.
