This time I avoided the roaring Alameda (Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins), exploring instead the arcades around the Plaza de Armas, the city's original central square.

Indoor spaces: under La Moneda, above, and the central post office, right. Where it seemed to be necessary to queue with the stamp-collectores (paging through large albums) to buy postcard stamps for tomorrow.

And grandest of all, the cathedral.

I also went to museums... here we have Pedro de Valdivia founding the city in 1541, the colonial city, and meeting to declare independence in 1810.
Walked up Cerro Santa Lucía, the tiny hill in town, so steep it has a lift.
By chance I found a bridge I remembered, and re-traced where we walked 8 years ago .

Well, in fact there is a bit more:

Two Ports (landscapey)

Textures (from Paine)

That's all, folks. I hope you enjoyed the show.

This thing has turned out rather more polished-looking than I intended. I'm sorry. It was just supposed to let me show a mix of pictures, some I quite like along with some snaps to tie the story together, much as I could by flashing them quickly in a slide show.
