Sardinia

In January 2005 I joined Gavin & Daria for some climbing on the island of Sardinia.

The main attraction: big limestone walls, with long bolted routes. And January Mediterranean sunshine, of course.

An early start.

In Town

We rented an apartment in Orosei from Gino, who was most surprised to discover that he'd been arranging things through Babelfish...
There was much pointing, and he'd shake his head and correct us every time one of us remembered the French or the Spanish word for something first.

Gino brought us things from the family farm.

At the Seaside

In addition to the big walls inland, there are little coastal crags. The waves try to eat the cliffs, and the cliffs fight back with stalactites, giving weird and wonderful slimy overhangs...

Cala Gonone

That was 3 years ago,
we had just come from Rome (by ferry).

I am sure I've completely muddled up the climbing areas; my apologies to anyone who noticed.

I'm also shocked how awful my camera at the time was, I've done my best fighting weird colour balances and blocked-up shadows...
